Dr. Toshiki Tajima has worked on the physics of Field Reverse Configuration (FRC) for many years, with research focuses in reconnection, tilting, current drive, RF transport, advanced fuel, transport scaling, fast particle heating, and fusion energy conversion. He also advises on Tri Alpha Energy corporate strategy. Before joining Tri Alpha Energy, Dr. Tajima worked on tokamak plasma physics and particle simulation of plasma. In 1979, with J. Dawson, he invented laser electron acceleration.
Dr. Tajima received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, studying under Professor Norman Rostoker, a pioneer in clean nuclear fusion research. He is the recipient of the Nishina Memorial Prize, the Blaise Pascal Chair, and the Enrico Fermi Prize. He was recently named the first Norman Rostoker Chair Professor at the University of California, Irvine.
